Low Fat Snacks

I swear I am always on some sort of diet. I always find it hard to find something to snack on that is actually good. Here are a few things I've found lately that seem to work very well: Low fat, low calories, full of protein/vitamins and satisfies that salt and chocolate cravings:

Magic Pops: I love these things!!! I get the onion flavor and use them in place of chips. They are great with Hummus and only 15 calories!!! It satisfies my salty/crunchy cravings.

Hummus: 2 tbsp-50 calories
This is my favorite brand

Avocados:
I am on an avocado fix right now. I put these on everything: salads, sandwiches, and in Omelets!!! Yes Omelets and it's amazing. They are a great power food. I eat these just as is all the time too. Homemade guacamole is a great snack as well.

Almonds: You have to be very careful with almonds because they have a lot of calories in them. You should only eat about 11-15 at a time for a snack and they should be raw/non-salted. They are a great snack food and are loaded with good for you stuff.

Luna Bars:
This is a new one for me, but they really are good. They are great for afternoon snacks, if you need to miss a meal, and full of protein.

Imitation Meat: 3 sticks is 90 calories

Turkey Pepperoni:

Mini Rice Cakes:

Almond Butter: Much better for you then peanut butter and great on apples

And when I need that major Chocolate and Salty Fix.................... I have 2 or 3 of these things. DELICIOUS!!!!!! These are so freakin good and about 16 calories a piece.

Random Wednesday

Totally Random Post: As I hope ALL OF KNOW, this is going to be a huge election year.

If you don't follow politics, I at least hope you educate yourselves a little on the issues facing our nation. Being that I LOVE POLITICS and Our Nation, I will try and give y'all some shorthand of what's going on during the next few months.
If you think you shouldn't care, you SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

These are REAL ISSUES, I don't care if you are Democrat or Republican. These are going to be effecting your children and grandchildren.

If you haven't seen this before, this is our National Dept Clock. It never stops going up!

The National Underemployment Rate is 8.2%. That doesn't include all the people that have just stopped looking for work. Even College Graduates are having to move back home because they can't find jobs.
States are BROKE, Pensions are BROKE, Medicare is BROKE, Social Security is Broke

Dont even get me started on Government Waste: Democrats and Republicans are to blame!

So that being said: I am a registered Republican, but I am really getting to know the issues at hand now and want to make sure we make our Nation better for future generations. In my opinion I think Republicans share my belief right now on some of the major issues going forward. I will, however, try and give both side of the story for the issues.
For the first time ever, I decided to contribute to the GOP National Committee. I encourage you to have a look at your party and if you really believe in what they say then get involved:

Making of the Bed

Our bed is EASY to make in the terms of pillows. We really don't have any throw pillows compared to some of my other friends that have beautiful beds full of pillows. I was lucky to get the ones I have with Jordan. Anyways, I've been collecting these pictures for a while that I'm about to show you. 9/10 I make the bed and it's always made: It's a pretty easy configuration that makes perfect symmetrical sense.

I've been collecting these over the years. This is what it looks like when Jordan makes the bed

Am I the only one that this happens to???? I really think in Jordan's eyes he doesn't see a difference at all.

Weekend Recap

Oh Monday you have come again. :(

Jordan and I had a great weekend. We had such a blast NOT doing laundry, working on the house, doing yard work, cleaning the house or running errands.
Friday, I cooked Deer steaks, asparagus, and made up a new twice baked potato recipe:

This is not my actual potato.

Anyways, here is the recipe: This was for 2 potatoes
Bake potatoes for 1 hour, 10 minutes on 400 (I rubbed mine with olive oil for the last 20 minutes)
Scope out potato and smash in a big bowl
Mix: Greek plain yogurt (yep instead of sour cream), 1/2 skim milk, 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese, about 3 tablespoons butter (I used my spray butter so that is why I used 3 tablespoons-not real butter)
You can also add green onions
Put mixture back in potato and cook for 20 minutes on 350
As you can see my whole recipe is really low fat

I did 1 potato with that recipe and then I did a whole new recipe:
I toke that original potato mixture and I added my own twist:
To that mixture I added:
about 1/4 cup of Blue Cheese and 1/3 cup of Buffalo sauce
YEP: I made buffalo blue cheese twice baked potatoes! They were AWESOME!!!!

We spent Saturday at Jordan's cousins pool. It was so nice because it was 1 Million degrees in Nashville. Ok, 1 million might be a little dramatic but it was freakin hot and humid. It has been pretty mild this summer in Nashville, so this heat wave sucks!!!

Saturday night, we went to our friends, Carlos and Britini for Carlos's Fishing Themed Birthday. It was such a blast hanging out with friends. We played corn hole, yard tennis, ate great food and most of us were home by 10:30, LOVE THOSE KIND OF NIGHTS.

Birthday Boy!

I can't leave out the most amazing part of the night: HAVE Y'ALL HEARD OF TWINE?!?!?!?!
It's a mix between country line dancing but some booty grooving. It's AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I mean it's everything you want in dancing and so fun (and it's a workout, HELLO-fun workout-yes please)! We danced the night away with our lovely Twine King: Cory Walker. He can do party's for you and everything: Please check them out on facebook and online: www.stillkickinit.com

We finished the weekend out with a trip to Waffle House!!!! I have not been to waffle house in probably 3 years. The best place to ruin your whole weeks worth of diet and exercise. It was soooooooooooooooo freakin good though.

Jordan played golf some this weekend as well-these dang tournaments have him thinking he is a golfer now. Jordan has so many hobbies, but he sure does love them so I guess I'll put up with it because I do love the guy.

Southwest

I'm the kind of person that will voice my opinion about a lot of things. I really voice my opinion when I REALLY LOVE SOMETHING AND WHEN I REALLY DON'T!

I LOVE SOUTHWEST!

I fly A LOT for someone that doesn't "fly" for their job. I probably fly 6-10 times a year and I have flown almost every single airline. Once I moved to Nashville, I started flying Southwest and then started flying Southwest A LOT! Why Southwest???? Why do I love it so much??????

If you have never flown SW, I'm really sorry because you are missing out. They have the funniest flight attendants and pilots, great prices, 2 free bags, no change fees, easy cancellations with no fees, easy board, great points system and some of the best SERVICE in the world.

I had the pleasure of meeting a SW flight attendant the other day, and I asked her. "What makes Southwest so awesome?" and she said that the CEO's motto has always been to treat your employees well and they will treat your customers well.
Wow!!! Doesn't seem very ground breaking, but what a thought.

I had such a great flight onetime that I wrote SW a letter to tell them. I would suggest that if you ever have a great Customer Service experience that you let the CEO, Manager, Owner know! Customer Service seems to be a thing of the past, but these companies need to know that we as consumers really appreciate it still.

Optimist vs. Pessimist vs. Realist

At our Sales Meeting, we had a big speech from our CEO about being Positive! Being a positive person brings more sales and to not associate yourself with negative co-workers. Negative co-workers bring you down and complain and make you complain. I started thinking: Am I negative????? I mean I do complain A LOT about work! I've been accused of being negative at work before, but does that reflect in my everyday life??

I really don't think there is a better way to describe myself than the picture above: I'm a Realist.
I don't necessarily consider myself a positive person, but neither a negative person. I just don't know if there is another way to describe it but realism. I look at each and every situation as having a "realistic solution". I don't know if that comes from being a Type A, growing up military, planner kind of background, but that's how I see it.

After these sales meetings, you want to come back with a POSITIVE attitude!!!! A real PUMPED UP FEELING TO CONQUER THE WORLD, CRUSH YOUR COMPETITION AND SUCCEED!
This is a great video!

So after this week, I started to look at my job, my life, my blog: Am I a positive person??????????
Do I look at the glass half empty or half full? I see it half empty and half full.

My blog is all about the Real Stuff that happens in life: The good, the bad, and the UGLY

but does it come across as Positive or Negative.

I definitely don't want to be considered a negative person but I want to be Honest about what happens in every day life, share the real story of Life, marriage, dogs, budgets, house projects, laundry, money, WORK, etc......

I have decided I want to have a better attitude and look beyond is this realistic. I'm soooooooooooo  blessed for EVERYTHING GOD has given me and need to be THANKFUL EACH AND EVERY DAY FOR IT. I want to change my attitude about a lot of things.

I will, however, continue to tell my story honest and true. Personally, I think I  have a gift of not being afraid to tell the real story. Life can be really hard and it's nice to know you are not alone in the world. So, I'm not sure if my blog will change at all, but I'm excited to have a new outlook.

What a great quote for someone like me!

Happy Birthday Maggie

Happy Birthday today to my Awesome Sis-in-law: Maggie! She is still a young buck, so jealous! I'm Beyond Blessed I will say in the In-Laws department. Hope you have a great Day, Maggie! We Love You!
